Are All Automatic Mahjong Tables The same – part 2

Are All Automatic Mahjong Tables The same – part 2. If you have read “Are All Automatic Mahjong Tables the same? you can see that I have tried to stay neutral when pointing out the differences between different manufactures. My purpose is not to single out any manufacture or brand or to promote any brand including ours. My purpose is to educate my readers and give them knowledge which will help them make a better decision when purchasing an Automatic Mahjong table.

Are All Automatic Mahjong Table the same? The answer is NO!. I recently answered a post on my YouTube page https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=uMT6s7g-k-8

Where a subscriber asked me “these are so cool, but also SO EXPENSIVE!!!” and my response was as the following:

Buying an automatic mahjong table is like buying an appliance. You purchase an appliance by selecting a reputable brand that stands for quality and is backed up with a great warranty. A great warranty can only be given when quality parts have been used and a manufacture follows strict quality controls and protocols to ensure the product will outlast the warranty. A manufacture must decide if their goal is to build a reputable brand or build a sub-standard product using inferior parts which can yield large profits. Consumers who are willing to invest $1000.00 or more in an automatic mahjong table, should consider what is best for them, whether buying a quality product that will last for many years or buying an inexpensively made product that was designed to gain the greatest profit, with little consideration given to the lifespan of the product. Consumers should also consider if technical support in English will be available from the manufacture should it ever be needed or if the re-seller has the technical knowledge needed should you require help. Is it worth buying a cheaper unsafe unheard of foreign brand when investing $1000.00 or more dollars? Why risk it?

As you can see, I was able to answer the question that was asked by a YouTuber subscriber and stay neutral without singling out any manufacture or brand. I believe an educated consumer is an empowered consumer.

A manufacture must decide if their goal is to build a reputable brand or to make a quick profit. As difficult it may be to believe, there are many who would pick a quick profit. This is due to the unlimited prospective customers. This is the mentality that has evolved in overseas. Since Asia is the factory of the world it has an unlimited endless base of customers. This has led most companies overseas to built low quality goods with high profits. If the customer is not happy, there is another one waiting to buy. So why worry and reduce profits with providing quality when there is an endless supply of buyers? Here in the United States, we are tied to traditional values such as manufacturing quality products. We produce products which reflect our values. We have to conform to values which have been instilled by our heritage as well as our government.  Our products have to comply with so many governmental standards including safety. And if they don’t, consumers have an arsenal of governmental offices to call and report the product. That is why American products/technology are always preferred. My apologies to our overseas readers, my goal is not to single out a country or industry. My goal is to educate consumers so they can make prudent decisions when purchasing.

Recently there has been a deluge of Automatic Mahjong Tables on the internet. Some are offered for very low prices that seem a great bargain. Let’s analyze the sale price as well as the shipping cost. I can definitely tell you that the cost to ship an Automatic Mahjong Table on a pallet to most areas in the USA is about $300.00 for about 250/300 lbs. The cost will depend where you are shipping from. The closer to the city from where it is shipped from, the less the cost but the overall cost is about or near $300. Deduct that from the total cost and you will have the cost of goods from the seller or manufacture.

There is truth in the old saying “You get what you pay for”. That is why there are different markets for buyers to chose from. You can purchase a lower end product and hope it will last or you can purchase a quality product with confidence and know it is backed by a reputable company.

The technical Part

Firstly, I must state that the technology for the automatic mahjong table originally comes from Japan. It was later imported by China.

Let’s look at the technical side of the Automatic Machine. The Automatic Mahjong machine was engineered to work with precision and within technical specifications such as motor speeds, precise measurements. It works with the use of magnetism. There are 4 powerful magnets which influence the operation of the tiles. Each tile has a magnet inside under the acrylic finish.  As we learned in grade school opposite magnetic poles attract and the same poles repel. Using this magnetic force we can influence the tiles to face the direction required. The tiles are then picked up by a wheel on a conveyor belt using a wheel that has magnets with the attracting side of the poles. The tiles are then distributed to all four sides of the distribution system. As the tiles pass through a light sensor they are counted and placed on a wall to be delivered to the playing surface.

So how are Automatic Mahjong Tables different?

The difference is in the parts used by manufactures. Some will use motors which have aluminum winding instead of copper winding’s. This can have an effect on the longevity of the motor. Using the aluminum wired motors will save cost as aluminum cost less than copper. I have also found less winding on the motors. This is another way the motor manufactures save money in the production. This Leeds to a weaker motor which have a tendency to overheat due to the load of moving the tiles. We also find the same problem with the electrical transformer used to convert the electrical current for the computer board and the motors. The transformer are made with aluminum that has been painted to a copper color. Then there are the light controllers used to count the tiles on their journey to the walls. All manufactures say they use imported light controllers as a way to insure customers of the quality found outside. The reality is they use the cheapest light controller available.

Next, lets examine the computer boards which are the brains of the automatic mahjong tables. Currently there are just a hand few computer boards manufactures left to buy from. Many have gone out of business. When manufactured, the chips are programed with the same repeated programing. So if the programing was incorrect to begin with, then all boards printed will have have the same problem. This could mean thousands of boards will have errors. Trust me when I say nothing is thrown away or re-introduce for correction. They will be used as is. I personally know of a giant in this field that has almost disappeared, due to quality issues and for following the “unlimited prospective customers” philosophy”.

Next lets consider the inferior metals mixed with lower cost metals which can rust and the inferior plastics used for the plastic parts which can easily break due to stress and finally lets considered the production line. If the workers are well trained or are they just a body? What about quality control? Are there quality control plans in place? These are problems consumers do not know of or see, but each one has to do with the quality of the product you are investing your hard earned money. Many companies have eliminated their quality control departments as a cost savings move. If you are willing to invest$1000 on an Automatic Mahjong Machine then quality should be the priority when purchasing. You work hard for your money , you deserve the best.

In my next YouTube video I will show you the different inferior parts used by some companies. My YouTube video can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/user/chasve1
